Their photo. Their cover.

A customer sent us this photo of Oliver. We made this cover from it.

Oliver, a Boston terrier with a white blaze down his face and a blue collar, lying on a rug and looking up at the camera — the photo his owner sent.
Photo
Goodnight, Oliver: the same Boston terrier painted lying on his side in a plush bed beneath the title lettering, ears up, dark eyes to the reader and a happy open smile — the same white blaze, the same blue collar — one paw over a teddy with a bow in a lamplit bedroom.
Cover

“OMG, it’s so cute! It captures Oliver’s little snaggle tooth perfectly — it looks exactly like him.”

Amanda G., Escalon, CA, Oliver’s owner

A real person checks every picture against your photo before it prints. If a picture looks off, we paint it again.

The story

One little boat. A very long way to say hello.

Your pet has news for a friend who has moved beyond the hill, but calling across the garden will not deliver it. A passing wren offers to carry something on his morning route, provided the parcel is small enough. The favorite stone is too heavy. A broad leaf catches too much wind. Then your pet remembers the little leaf boat that always returns to the same crack in the basin. Giving it away means losing a favorite plaything, but it also means sending a game the friend will recognize. The boat travels, the garden keeps growing, and a reply eventually arrives with an unmistakably familiar joke. Told across three clearly marked days, this is a story about making contact, waiting for an answer and finding new things to share. The distance stays real, while the friendship becomes something your pet can take part in again.

Who it’s for: For ages two to six, especially families sharing a book across different homes, grandparents living elsewhere, or a child whose friend has moved away.

Questions

Does the friend come home at the end?

The friends continue living apart. The ending gives them a repeatable way to share news and play, rather than promising a reunion or making the distance disappear.

Is this a story about losing a pet?

No. Both friends are alive and enjoying their gardens. The gentle longing comes from living in different places, and the story ends with an ordinary exchange continuing.

Can a pet other than a dog star in this story?

The action uses light leaves, short movements on dry ground and a shallow basin. Cats, rabbits, birds and larger land animals can fit; a pet that must stay underwater cannot.

What do I get for $69.99?

A 40-page 8.5-inch square hardcover, printed just for you. Your pet is the star of every picture, and their name is on the cover. A page at the front has a note in your own words. A real person checks the book before it prints. Shipping in the U.S. is free. If it arrives damaged, we send a new one for free.

Can I see more than the cover first?

Yes, one page. After the cover, you can see one page from inside the book with your pet in it, free. We paint the rest after you order. A real person checks every picture against your photo before it prints.

What makes a good photo?

One pet, facing the camera, in good light. Daylight near a window is best. The face, colors and markings should be sharp. Skip heavy shadows, busy backgrounds and photos with two pets. A phone photo is fine.

Is the art made with AI?

Yes. We make the pictures with AI from the photo you send. They are not painted by hand. A real person on our team checks every book before it prints.

What happens to my photo?

We keep it, with what you typed and the art we made. That way we can reprint your book if something goes wrong, and make your next book without a new photo. To have it deleted, email support@illustratedyou.com, or ask us to close your account. No public gallery. No ads without asking you first. We don’t train AI on your photos, and we set up the AI services we use so they don’t train their general AI models on them either.
