The story
A little door changes the whole castle.
A broad stretch of sand is waiting, and your pet has plans for a castle worth admiring. A tiny beetle called Marnie brings a fallen petal for the tower and asks to visit when the work is done. The tower grows, the shell beside the entrance looks splendid, and everything seems ready. But a small ridge across the doorway is an enormous obstacle to somebody with very short legs. Making the entrance wider does not help. Adding a pebble makes the problem worse. To understand what Marnie needs, your pet must get a face close to the ground and look again. The tower could stay beside a skinny route, but your pet chooses to lower it for a proper place to play. A second opening then lets both friends join the game. The finished castle is lower and simpler, with a clear route through and a special place for Marnie’s gift. This is a warm coastal story about designing, testing and enjoying something together.
Who it’s for: For ages 2–6 and children who build, rearrange and ask somebody to come and see. A birthday or summer-holiday keepsake for a family who likes sandcastles and small acts of thoughtfulness.
Questions
Is there a wave or tide danger in the story?
No. The building happens on the dry upper beach, well above the tideline. Nobody enters water, gets buried or needs rescuing.
Does the castle get destroyed?
Your pet deliberately reshapes part of the castle to make it easier for the little visitor to use. The ending keeps the finished castle standing and the friends playing.
Can a large pet star in this story?
Yes. The hero stays beside the small sandcastle at its natural size while the beetle uses the doorways. Donkeys and horses do not have to squeeze inside. Animals that live only in water are not a fit for dry beach scenes.
What do I get for $69.99?
A 40-page 8.5-inch square hardcover, printed just for you. Your pet is the star of every picture, and their name is on the cover. A page at the front has a note in your own words. A real person checks the book before it prints. Shipping in the U.S. is free. If it arrives damaged, we send a new one for free.
Can I see more than the cover first?
Yes, one page. After the cover, you can see one page from inside the book with your pet in it, free. We paint the rest after you order. A real person checks every picture against your photo before it prints.
What makes a good photo?
One pet, facing the camera, in good light. Daylight near a window is best. The face, colors and markings should be sharp. Skip heavy shadows, busy backgrounds and photos with two pets. A phone photo is fine.
Is the art made with AI?
Yes. We make the pictures with AI from the photo you send. They are not painted by hand. A real person on our team checks every book before it prints.
What happens to my photo?
We keep it, with what you typed and the art we made. That way we can reprint your book if something goes wrong, and make your next book without a new photo. To have it deleted, email support@illustratedyou.com, or ask us to close your account. No public gallery. No ads without asking you first. We don’t train AI on your photos, and we set up the AI services we use so they don’t train their general AI models on them either.
